Climate
Uniondale has a reasonably comfortable climate. Summer days can get quite warm but a breeze normally cools the air just before sunset leaving the evenings pleasant. Winter days can get cold (snowfalls occur in the surrounding mountains) but most winter days are sunny. The area has a relatively low rainfall of between 250 and 450mm a year but is still well watered by many perennial streams. The main rainfall occurs during the winter months, but thundershowers often occur during summer. Farming

Explore the cultural history and architecture of Uniondale. Visit the historic fort, churches, watermill, Jewish synagouqe and many other places of interest. 
Uniondale is surrounded by some of the most spectacular and scenic mountain passes in South Africa. The Prince Alfred Pass is amongst the best. Die Poort and Potjiesberg passes are close by. Not far away is the unique scenery of the Nuwekloof pass, Montague pass, Outeniqua pass and Meiringspoort pass.
Visit local artists and crafters. Paintings, drawings, wire chandeliers, pottery and many other art works can be found in Uniondale.
Uniondale is popular for mountaing biking. The annual Karoo to Coast race starts in Uniondale and ends in Knysna. The famous Cape Epic mountain bike race goes through Uniondale in 2007. There are many tracks and passes in the area. Bring your bike and enjoy.
